Our Approach

Our Vision

New England Cycling Center is a nonprofit organization formed in 2019 with the goal of building and operating a bicycling-focused community fitness park in the Greater Boston area. NECC’s vision includes an indoor velodrome and community center, an outdoor velodrome, a BMX track, a pump track, a bicycle playground, a 1-mile off-road trail, and a 3-mile paved running and cycling path. With health and wellness programming for youths and adults, NECC’s world class facilities will provide the community a vast array of free fitness, recreation, and competition opportunities in a safe, car-free environment.

Tony
Eberhardt

Director

Tony began his cycling career over 40 years ago working as a bike mechanic in Philadelphia. In 1981 he enrolled in the junior development program at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome and went on to race for Team Hill. In 1985 he began a 26 year stint working for the Pro Cycling Tour on professional bike races around the country. In 2004, he founded the New England Velodrome and Cycling Park (NEV&CP) and brought track cycling back to New England on a retired go-kart track in Londonderry, NH, now known as Northeast Velodrome. He also increased cycling exposure for the NEV&CP by designing, constructing and promoting the Velocity BMX Track and a cyclocross course. He went on to coach the University of New Hampshire cycling team for 6 years. In 2014, he founded River View Bicycle Camp, a cycling summer camp for children. Tony is excited to bring his expertise and experience to the New England Cycling Center project. Tony is an orthopedic physical therapist and serial entrepreneur who currently owns two PT clinics in New Hampshire.

J. Alain
Ferry

Director

Alain is the founder of a software company and president of a nonprofit. During high school, he got into bicycle racing via the junior developmental program at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome in Trexlertown, PA. His connection to cycling grew with jobs in finance and marketing at Mavic, and 20+ years of racing across the USA, Holland, and France. After years as a competitive cyclist and runner, Alain is now a race director, announcer, and technology consultant. In 2007 he founded RACE Cancer Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit which produces more than one dozen running events annually in the Greater Boston area. In 2009, he founded RaceMenu, a software company which builds payment technology solutions for event organizers across the United States. Alain has an economics degree from Penn State and a law degree from Suffolk University. He and his wife Kathleen live on Cape Cod with their daughters Kendall and Kyla, and a baby girl due in July. Alain will be running his 17th consecutive Boston Marathon in 2021.

Nicole
Freedman

Director

Nicole served as the founding Director of Bicycle Programs for the City of Boston under Mayor Thomas M Menino from 2007-2015 where she helped transform Boston from the worst cycling city in the country to a nationally ranked bicycle friendly city. Under her leadership, and with strong support from Mayor Menino, Boston became one of the first cities in the country to launch a bike share system, currently known as Bluebikes. She installed 92 miles of bike lane and 1500 bicycle racks, created an award winning community bike program, organized the 5,000 person Hub On Wheels citywide bike ride and brought the first professional bike race in Boston in nearly 20 years. Prior to working in Boston, Nicole competed professionally in bike racing for a dozen years winning two national championships in the road race and criterium and competing for the United States in the 2000 Olympics in Sidney. Nicole currently works as the Director of Transportation Planning for Newton. She attended MIT and Stanford where she has a BA in Urban Planning.

Adam
Myerson

Director

Adam is a former professional cyclist who specializes in criteriums and cyclocross. He was the 2018 Masters 45+ Continental cyclocross champion, 3-time masters national cyclocross champion, 2017 masters road champion, and 2018 masters criterium champion. Bookending his long career, he was also the 1997 collegiate national cyclocross champion. He began racing as a junior in 1987 at age 15, and was a professional for 13 years, racing his final pro season in 2015 at age 43. He is founder and president of Cycle-Smart, Inc., president of the New England Cyclocross Series, organizer of the Northampton International Cyclocross, current at-large member on the USA Cycling Cyclocross Committee, former member of the UCI Cyclo-Cross Commission, and former member of the management committee of the International Association of Cyclo-Cross Organizers (AIOC-Cross). He is also a husband and parent, and lives in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Brandon
Morphew

Director

Brandon is a lifelong cyclist and experienced corporate executive with over 25 years of experience working in diverse industries, including cycling, consumer package goods, investment banking, and owning businesses. His expertise covers a range of competencies, including operations, sales, and marketing. He has worked at all levels of professional cycling, from road and mountain to BMX and track racing. He began his career at Adidas, working with marquee properties, including the Olympics, Le Tour de France, and Ironman Triathlon. From there, he moved to consumer-packaged goods, working in beverage marketing at Red Bull, Vitaminwater, and Coca-Cola Japan, then investment banking, and ultimately launching his sales and marketing agency. Brandon graduated with a philosophy major from UMass and lives in Waltham, MA, with his partner of 20 years.
